Five Young Adult Book Series You Should Read

I have always loved reading young adult books because they tend to be shorter than traditional grown up novel and with my busy schedule I certainly love a book that I can put down and come back later.

We’ve seen an influx of people requesting book recommendations on their Twitter and Facebook accounts so I thought I’d put together a list of books we recommend and share it with you. I know some of these series we have reviewed on our blog but they are seriously fantastic!

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

If you haven’t picked up a Richelle Mead novel, you are missing out on a very addictive writer. The Golden Lily is the second book in the Bloodlines series following a handful of the characters from Mead’s #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series.

Of course if you haven’t read the Vampire Academy series, I would certainly recommend starting there although you do not need to read that series to start the Bloodlines series.

C.H.A.O.S. Novels by Jon S. Lewis

I received Invasion for review a while back and was hooked by the story. Alienation is the second C.H.A.O.S. novel and the follow up to Invasion. Along with the book, you get to see pages from The Phantom Flyer comic book. Written by Jon S. Lewis, the same one who writes for the DC COMICS family of publishers, Alienation follows Colt as he continues learning more about himself, the C.H.A.O.S. organization, and why they want him to take over the organization.

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

This series is not the typical short quick read I love but was worth breaking out of my normal routine. I saw the movie made from the first book in this series, Eragon, which prompted me to want to finish the series to find out how it all wraps up. I’m currently on the third book of the series, Brisingr.

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

This series is the next one on my list after I saw the movie, The Golden Compass. I absolutely loved the movie and books are usually better so I can’t wait to start this series.

Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know by Hamilton Wright Mabie

I know this isn’t really a young adult series but these are great short fairy tales you probably remember from your childhood. The boys have been gobbling up fairy tales lately so this was a perfect book for out loud reading by anyone in the family. And you’ll be surprised to learn that some of the fairy tales we know have been retold so many times, the originals may not be what you expected. This version is free on the Kindle.
