Sometimes You Gotta Go Beyond The Pavement

Adventure is my middle name
After reading a post titled ‘You know you’re becoming country when…‘, I thought what a great idea for a blog post.

Well, really only after listening to Tim explain to a delivery driver how to get to our home. The poor delivery driver has been trying to get to our house since 1:30pm.

It’s almost 5pm.

I’m beginning to think that we need to memorize our latitude and longitude coordinates for days like this. That’s right, our home may or may not be on your GPS system.

Yes, directions to our house include ‘turn on the dirt road between the house with the big tree and the {onion/wheat/etc} field’. Plus you have to turn on a dirt road after you’re already on a dirt road. That’s how country we are!

Yes, our house is on a county road. County not CountRy. No, we don’t have a suite or apartment. The road name is county road B-Number. Yes, it should have an easier name.

Just like they chorus in Banjo by Rascal Flatts:

You gotta go deep

Way on back

Cross a few creeks

And a couple little shacks

You gotta get lost

Way on out

Crickets and frogs

Yeah you’re gettin’ close now

Apparently, our delivery driver was driving between the two post offices on the same road for two different towns looking for our little turn off.

Tractor CrossingFrom one direction, you can actually tell people to turn at the tractor sign. Yes, turn doesn’t need a direction because if you turn the wrong way, you’ll be in a field of pecan trees.

Almost four hours later, our package arrived. Thankfully, the UPS and FedEx drivers have no trouble finding us since they’ve been here so many times. We only have this trouble when it’s first time delivery drivers.

And that is another reason you know you’re becoming country…
