A few weeks ago, we put Woolzies dryer balls to the test in our HE dryer. We put all six balls into the dryer and ran it for the next few loads followed by taking the balls out and running some more loads for comparison. The biggest thing we noticed was the additional sound the balls created and although the increased sound wasn’t entirely unexpected, it was louder than I would have expected.
So what are Woolzies? Per the Woolzies website, they “are pure handmade New Zealand wool dryer balls that soften your laundry naturally without any of the chemicals of conventional fabric softeners. Unlike the plastic dryer balls, they are PVC free and won’t fall apart or melt on you. Woolzies save time and energy by cutting down on drying time by an average of 25% per load. They also help reduce static and wrinkles.”
We didn’t notice a decrease in time or energy but they were an effective replacement for our static sheets with the added bonus of not having to remember to put a new sheet in the dryer each load. Unless you take out the balls on accident when you take out the clean laundry.
