Truvia® Celebrates World Food Day

Did you know that 1 in 8 people in the world suffer from chronic hunger? Our family is surrounded by fields growing corn, cotton, wheat, pecans, and many other crops. We have seen large crops fail. We have seen crops stolen. Farming is a tough job but a necessary one to feed the world. I wish more people and corporations would step up to help end hunger, whether it’s donating to your local food bank or feeding hungry people in your country.

Follow Truvia on Twitter and Learn even more about the Truvia® brand’s initiative here.

Truvia® has stepped up to the plate and while I truly wish they were supporting the children in my backyard (so to speak), I understand why they have chosen to support Bolivian families as stevia, the primary ingredient in Truvia®, is harvested in Bolivia. With their “Sharing a Sweet Future” charitable initiative, Truvia® has already helped over 34,705 Bolivian school children receive more nutritionally-balanced school meals. Plus they are teaching Bolivian locals the skills to build fuel efficient stoves with over 60 already complete and serving thousands of students meals cooked in a safer environment.

Thanks for bringing awareness to this cause. I too, wish more companies would do what they can do to aid in making sure that every child goes to bed with food in their bellies. Maybe one day, compassion will over rule compensation.
