A Sad, Sad Day

Once upon a time, I manually synced my home computer with my laptop and work computer. Then, a fantastic group of people created a bookmark sync program called Foxmarks and I was beyond happy.

Over the years, I have never lost a bookmark even when switching computers or upgrading to Windows 7. It has been a great resource which I have used on Tim’s computer. each of the boys’ computers, my mom’s computer and the in-law’s computer.

Then, it got even better. Foxmarks added password sync and also added support for other browsers. This mommy blogger couldn’t have been happier.

But, my world is coming to a crossroad. Xmarks (during the upgrades, they changed names) is closing up shop. I am at a loss. I feel like I have lost a piece of my world. I don’t know what to do without my beloved sync program. My heart is broken.

I rarely use any browser outside of Firefox except for web design testing purposes so I’m not sure why I feel such a loss. Firefox has introduced a sync program recently. But it’s not Xmarks, now is it? It’s not what I am used to. It’s not my Xmarks. The one I’ve come to love. The one I’ve known for so many years.

So, I’ll be here remembering all the good times. And even the bad times. Wait, were there any bad times? And while I’m remembering, I’ll be switching all of our computers (all seven of them) to Firefox sync. I hope it goes smoothly because I’m not sure if I can handle any bumps at this time. I might cry. Well, not really. But the boys would be very upset if they lost their beloved favorites because it was the perfect solution for syncing bookmarks between our house and Grandma Deb’s house.

RIP Xmarks. I hope Firefox maintains there sync program as faithfully as you have with Xmarks.
