Airwear® Lenses

You may remember when I announced a while back that I was given the opportunity to review Airwear® lenses. Well, I’ve been wearing them off and on since I received them so I thought it’s about time to review them.

Airwear® lenses by Essilor provide 100 percent UVA and UVB protection, and are lighter and more impact-resistant than standard plastic lenses. Learn how we’re committed to producing lighter, safer and healthier eyewear for adults and children, as well as how we embrace environmentally-conscious practices: from recycling to eco-conscious manufacturing.

A few years ago, I was lucky to have insurance that covered two pairs of glasses. After taking a lot of time, I couldn’t pick out two that I really liked so I settled for two of the same frames. That came in handy for this review because I had two identical frames to compare; one with unknown brand light lenses and one with Airwear® lenses.

After weighing both frames, I was surprised to discover the frames were identical in weight. Now, I always opt for lighter lenses because they are simply more comfortable than heavier lenses. “Airwear® lenses are the first-ever eco-friendly lenses from Essilor.” This is what makes these lens different from the lenses I currently own.

This was also my first experience ordering glasses through the mail and sadly, I probably wouldn’t do it again. My glasses arrived in perfect condition and the lenses were fine but I really missed the personal attention that comes with buying glasses at the eye doctor’s office. Plus if I have a problem with my lenses or frames, I can go into the office and have the frames adjusted or the lenses cleaned and they handle any repair issues. I had a lot of adjustments and repairs done to my glasses when they boys were younger. We all know how little ones love to tug on shiny things and glasses are no different.

I would definitely request Airwear® lenses in my next pair of glasses. Although, I will be getting those from an optometrist’s office so I can take advantage of the personal service.
