You’d probably be surprised to learn that Tim and I do not own smartphones. Yes, our tech savvy house does not own a single smartphone. I guess I should also mention that we do not tweet, text, check social network sites, email or browse the web while we are out and about.
Maybe we don’t do all of that because we work from home on the computer. Maybe it’s because we rarely touch our SHARED cell phone when we’re at home. In fact, most of the time the cell phone sits in our office. But I do know that we’ve been tempted many times to get a smartphone because of all the cool features they have. But the cost has always outweighed any benefit for our family.
Saturday we were once again tempted to get a smartphone when we saw the HTV Evo while looking at new phones online. I must touch a phone before I’ll commit to buying because I want to see how it feels in my hand, see how heavy it feels, touch all the buttons, play with the new features, and listen to others talk about the phone. Then I read reviews online of the pros and cons, and find similar phones and read reviews about those. Oh, and I am not one of those who runs out and buy first run anything just to say I have it.

Actually, I do have a smartphone… I have a blackberry 8320… It’s not just my phone… It’s my schedule, my alarm clock, my email, my camera… It’s everything.
The only thing I don’t like is on my particular model, the trackball goes out too easily. But, what I love about it… Blackberry phones can literally almost take being hit with a sledgehammer and STILL work. I did have to replace under warranty reciently because my phone came across water, but, took no water damage from it.
I haven’t heard too much about the EVO, but, I would check consumerreports.com
