After my spinal fusion, I was left needing to take a variety of medication just to keep up with day-to-day activities without ending the day in pain. Between pain reducers, calcium, daily vitamins and a slew of other things, I’m always on the lookout for a better way to manage my medication. In addition to my medication, our boys take daily vitamins and fish oil. Here are some fantastic tips on how to manage your medications.
Pill Organizer
There are tons of pill organizers on the market today but the Daybox by Sabi offers a unique option of eight detachable pill boxes with three spacious compartments for holding large-sized pills. Each detachable pill-box is labeled, one for each day and an extra that boosts the brand name.
Each compartment lid has an icon depicting morning, noon and night to help those who have to take medicine three times a day. You could use each compartment on its own and have almost a full month planned out ahead. This has been a huge time saver for our family.
Crush Or Split
I have a few large pills that just go down easier when split in half. I’ve used a pill splitter that has a razor blade for years before I got my hands on Chop by Sabi. It is safe and easy for the kids to help me split my medicine.
We also use Crush by Sabi for Little T’s “nasty” medicine. I fill empty vcaps with the crushed pills so he doesn’t have to taste them when he takes his medicine. This has worked wonders for our night-time medicine routine. It was a huge ordeal with lots of gagging and water spitting but now it’s quick and easy.
Portable Pill Container
We use the Tripod Store and Go by Sabi because it holds a large amount and rolls up to fit into our glove compartment. Taking up a small amount of space while holding a decent amount of medication means I don’t have to carry pain and inflammation reducers with me and I don’t have to worry about an entire bottle of medicine sitting in the hot vehicle.
Schedule & Reminders
You’d probably be surprised due to the large amounts I have to take that I haven’t used an app for scheduling and reminding me to take my medicine but then again, I tend to forget a lot. My goal for next month is to set up, use and finally take my medicine as I should. I’m going to try the free Android app called MediSafe Meds & Pill Reminder.
Medication Storage
Recently, I discovered that storing medication in the bathroom is a big no-no. I never knew that so I spent some time moving and organizing our medications. They are now stored in the office since that’s where we typically are when we refill our pill boxes.

I love ways that help you organize anything in your daily routine. I have daily meds that I need to take, and this very helpful. TFS
We have always kept out meds in a kitchen cabinet. Although we do need a bigger area to keep them in. Maybe I should invest in a locked cabinet & keep it in a bedroom or office area. Thanks for the organization tips for meds.
