As we mentioned in a prior post, we were super lucky and selected to check out the Harlem Globetrotters Fans Rule Tour when it came to our area. Parent Tested, Parent Approved even arranged for a meet and greet with the players before the game.
The boys weren’t overly excited about attending the game because they weren’t sure what to expect from an unconventional basketball game but the moment it started, they were practically rolling in laughter. The way the Harlem Globetrotters interact with everyone is something everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. It’s silly, over the top, amazing fun and not just for the kids. You can tell the players truly enjoy being on the team acting goofy and silly with the kids.
What makes this tour different from past tours is the fans get to select a special rule for each quarter of the game. The game we saw utilized the Trick Shot Challenge, Make or Miss, and Hot Hand Jersey for the first three quarters and then repeated the Trick Shot Challenge for the final quarter of the game. These new rules bring hilarious antics to the court and make the game even more memorable. We were double lucky because we got to see former WBA World Champion and Las Cruces native Austin “No Doubt” Trout play on the opposing team. He does a lot of events around here so we’ve seen him but watching him playing basketball was hilarious.
Now from a kid’s perspective:
The Harlem Globetrotters are awesome. I really liked when the mystery music played and they were creeping around the court. Everyone should go see them if you have the chance.Little T, age 10
I think the Harlem Globetrotters are fantastic. My favorite part was when the Globetrotters did my favorite dance, Gangnam Style. I told all my friends they should go when they come to town again.Drama King, age 9
