Our family had a great time at the Albuquerque BioPark which includes the Rio Grande Zoo, Albuquerque Aquarium, Rio Grande Botanic Garden and Tingley Beach. We spent most of our time at the zoo but took the train by Tingley Beach and over to the aquarium. The train went through the garden which was very relaxing in the middle of the afternoon.
The Rio Grande Zoo is the best zoo our family has ever seen. It is clean, not only for the visitors but for the animals, too. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The animals appear to enjoy their life in captivity. There are lots of baby animals and tons of exploring for children and adults alike.
This beautiful orangutan was watching the people enter the zoo. He was perched up there mesmerized at the parking lot. It made me wonder what they thought about all of us.
Drama King (red outfit) and Little T (black outfit) had so much fun that they didn’t want to leave and they have already asked to go back. We spent all day at the BioPark and didn’t see close to half of everything. You could easily spend 2-3 days walking through the entire area.
We didn’t go to Tingley Beach or walk through the garden but those areas did not meet our needs at the moment. I do love that Tingley Beach has a child only fishing lake that is extra stocked to promote the love of fishing. The garden would be a great relaxing place to stroll through but Little T has never been a strolling child. He likes action and gets bored quite easily.
Admission is very reasonable for adults and children alike and they have reciprocal discounts with many zoos around the U.S. We were thrilled to find out that our zoo membership got us a 50% discount.
