Tim and I have had our Android phones for a while now and have downloaded, played, used, loved and hated quite a few Android apps over this time. I’ve compiled some of our favorite non-game apps below. I’m still narrowing our favorite game apps to share later. To be fair, we have only installed apps that are available for free in the Android Market. I haven’t found a reason, yet, for purchasing an app.
The first app that you simply must install is Advanced Task Killer Free. The app helps your battery run longer by giving you the opportunity to close background apps. You can also set the app to auto kill apps in three settings. We have ours set to auto kill in a safe manner and we’ve yet to have a problem.
Another fantastic app that will save you time and money is the Amazon app. You can search Amazon right from your phone using keywords, barcodes or pictures of products. We have used it many times to research a product before we bought it or to check a price on Amazon before buying what we think might be a bargain.
Google makes fantastic apps like Google Reader (RSS feeds), Google Books (e-reader), Google Sky Map (displays the stars based on your current location), Google Shopper and Google Navigation.
There is only one social network tool that we use so we were thrilled to find that TweetDeck was recently made available on the Android platform. It allows you to view and post to a variety of social network sites all in one easy to use app.
Of course as WordPress users, we have the WordPress app installed so we can check on our various blogs even while we’re out and about. We could even post to our blogs if we were so inclined.
What apps do you have installed that you just love?
